Whenever I see a real wedding from 2020, I’m celebrating a little party. Because how great it is to see couples who are not stopped by anything and still celebrate their love! This is also the case for the Greek couple Andreas and Katerina. Despite all restrictions and circumstances, they were determined to get married!
They turned the limitations into benefits and created a beautiful day inspired by the classic movie “My Fair Lady”. Celebrate their day along, will you?
Planner and stylist Phaedra says: “You’ve probably heard it many times by now… 2020 was the year wedding celebrations faced so many challenges. As wedding planners, we were heartbroken to see so many brides disappointed, because they had to postpone this year or because they wanted to cancel completely. Fortunately, this was not the case for Katerina and Andreas! They weren’t the kind of couple who let themselves be intimidated by the circumstances.
On the contrary, the restrictions made this bride and groom even more determined. It was going to be their day, their party, their big moment, and they would not even hear about changing their plans.
Instead of feeling like shrinking violets, they focused on the positive aspects for their wedding. One of those was “downsizing the guest-list will give us the opportunity to invest in a little extra beauty“, but that “little extra” wasn’t a bit at all! It was seriously.. Doolittle!
Katerina has a deeply romantic soul. She and Andreas are fun-loving, nostalgic and fond of Old-world charm. They put all their inspiration into the styling of their wedding and went for a decor full of things that Katerina can’t live without. Perfect flowers, ethereal textures and everything girls love! Together we came up with a plan that would do justice to this passionate couple.”
“What better inspiration than a favorite classic; George Cukor’s “My Fair Lady”? The color palette consists of romantic colors such as peach, cafe latte and custard. This has been brought to life with tulips, garden roses, eustoma lisianthus, clematis, astrantia and hydrangeas. The design includes refined botanical accents, calligraphy and watercolors with details of agate and colored marble. Golden candelabrums with mauve taper candles and flower textured and patterned candy. Decadent chandeliers, earth-ware in neutral tones and gold rimmed dark brown glassware. Everything that can make a romantic wedding absolutely “love(r)ly”, to quote Eliza Doolittle!
To top it all off, Katerina & Andreas drove a 1930s Ford Model A, which nods to the film’s aesthetics and made our couple super happy.
We were truly endeared to see them so happy with the decision to go ahead with their wedding! If there’s one bit of advice to provide future brides and grooms with, it would be to not let anything spoil it for you! You could dance all night… and you should!”
