You don’t see it often: yellow as a color theme for a wedding. But just outside of Amsterdam, at Wester-Amstel, a team of talented vendors created this cheerful and summery editorial and proved that yellow is a beautiful color for a wedding! It is therefore the color of 2021 for a reason!
Wedding planner Emilva of SANTÉ Weddings & Events tells: “Wester-Amstel is one of the few remaining estates in the Amsterdam area. It is a monumental house with a number of gardens, stately avenues and walking paths. The estate from 1662 is an oasis of peace, in the middle of the countryside, but a stone’s throw from the busy Amsterdam city life.”
“The shoot was photographed by Alena Shevchenko and filmed by Timo and Kay. Because the shoot took place on an estate with numerous gardens with lots of green, we chose a color theme with shades of yellow. One of the best colors to express cheerfulness and clarity!
Elena, the florist, created a lively atmosphere with her flowers. Pantone has named “Illuminating” yellow as Pantone Color of the Year 2021 for a reason. The combination with golden tones also works well because of the rich and elegant appearance. This is sometimes also reflected in a baroque or rococo style interior.
The bride’s boudoir look can be described as romantic, glamorous and feminine sexy. Irena wears a white see-through kimono with long asymmetrical sleeves, handmade from soft tulle. Shiny details with sequins make it almost like a fairytale! This kimono is combined with a lace bodysuit. The vintage Victorian-Edwardian style wedding dress has ruffle details at the back, making it playful and romantic. Perfect for a wedding in the garden!
Sylvia, De Schoonschrijfster, created simple invitations with calligraphy on handmade paper. Beautifully combined with the modern plates of the Golden Glister collection from Représentable. The cake, served on an elegant 19th-century French Louis XV style table, is decorated with gold and edible flowers and filled with pear jam and vanilla cream. The sweet table is complemented with macarons and edible flower lollipops, served on handmade epoxy coasters.”
