Less than half an hour’s drive from the center of Parma in Northern Italy is the enchanting castle Castello di Montechiarugolo. A castle that seems to come out of a fairytale, with rich flower gardens and walls lined with wisteria and beautiful roses.
A team of vendors from various European countries chose this unique location as the stage for a romantic editorial. The feminine color palette, full of fresh and cheerful colors, takes you to a warm Italian spring.
Wedding & event designer Rambler Rose tells: “Montechiarugolo is a small town with few inhabitants near Parma. It is one of those small, characteristic villages that are increasingly difficult to find in Italy. Here we found the location we were looking for! Different from the usual, exclusive and intimate: a castle with a story to tell, romantic and lived-in. Mileage walls, bridges and large arches covered with wisteria and climbing roses. Flower gardens and elegant stone statues.
The interior has been carefully preserved over the years. Wandering among the antique furniture, gilded mirrors and valuables is like going back in time; to the time when the castle was the setting for a love story. As we entered the main gate we were enchanted by the old 14th century charm and immediately realized we were in the perfect place to experience a fairytale. At least for one day.”
“When creating the mood board, everything came quite naturally. We were inspired by the beauty of the castle and wanted to convey its timeless elegance in the shots. For this Erika from Erikawas Photography was the perfect choice as a photographer. In her photos full of delicate tones she adds that sophisticated and romantic look that makes the result even more magical.
We have chosen to create natural and elegant sets that enhance the castle. The simplicity of the details we have used take central stage. Our goal was to give the castle a new elegance; modern yet refined. That is why we chose a palette of soft colors in which golden details form the common thread.”
“The flowers are a masterpiece, curated by Benedetta of I Fiori di San Lorenzo. She interpreted our ideas perfectly and created fresh, spring-like and unique pieces.
For the bride, we chose a silk and French Chantilly lace dress made by Alessia Baldi; a young designer who composes her dresses with refined fabrics and a lot of passion. The Aveda Mec team created a light make-up and loose wavy hair. A beautiful gold and rose quartz hair accessory, handmade by Elena van Elysian and shipped from the Netherlands to Italy, completed her look.
It is Linnèo who dresses the bridegroom with a young but at the same time elegant suit, in kasuri; a prestigious Japanese cotton. This is perfectly combined with the midnight blue shoes from Leise Shoes.
For the wedding rings, we decided to go for a modern and unique design created by Giorgio from Il Sigillo, who also designed the groom’s cufflinks.”
“The table setup in the courtyard combines natural linen and refined ivory with gold cutlery from Tableset. Margherita from Black Sugar Lab provided the sweet table. Among meringues and cookies, the splendid cream wedding cake stands out against a backdrop of one of the many frescoes of this magical place.”
